What a Week!
Hola mis amigos!!
Wow this was such an amazing week I don't even know where to start! Being in the MTC has definitely been a tough transition, but I can witness that Jesus Christ does not leave us alone in our trials when we turn to Him!! As I have continued to pray for comfort and peace, I have been able to feel so peaceful and close to my savior. And I have felt so much JOY! I'm not saying that everything about leaving my family, being in a new place with new people, learning a new language, and learning how to teach the gospel is easy. But I do know that my testimony has grown so much since being here and there is JOY in the gospel of Jesus Christ and I can't wait to share it with as many people as I can!! We were also able to be in the presence of almost all of the apostles and hear from some general authorities this week because of the new mission leader seminar that was going on and it was so cool! I love being here!
I also love my district! We have had some great laughs and spiritual discussions together and they are amazing!!
Miracles of the week:
There are honestly too many to write down here so email me if you want to hear more about how the Lord is involved in missionary work, but here are a couple of my favorites!
- Hermana Holbrook and I got locked out of our room (which was actually so hilarious because we had to walk to the front desk with wet hair and flip flops to get a new key just to realize we said the wrong room, go all the way back and get a new one all in one morning 😂) but it ended up being great because just as we needed to get back into the building two of the sisters from our district came walking out and they were able to let us in so we could get back to our room with the new key!
- I was feeling a little anxious Sunday morning but as I took the sacrament and prayed and studied the scriptures I felt the spirit so strongly and I felt so much peace about my purpose as a missionary and excitement about the future!
Spiritual thought:
We had a devotional from Elder Kearon this past Saturday and he focused so much on the joy that can be found in missionary work and living the gospel of Jesus Christ! He shared an excerpt from a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson that I loved because it is so applicable to missionary work and life! It says, "Find out where JOY resides, and give it a voice far beyond singing. For to miss the joy is to miss it all". I love this quote because it reminds me to look for the joy in my life as a missionary and as long as I give my best, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will take care of the rest!
