Spanish immersion and a week of miracles!!

Hola mis amigos!!

Wow, this week was amazing!! First off, I want to say that this week I had a huge reminder from God that he knows me personally and He is taking care of me throughout this whole process! I have witnessed so many miracles and tender mercies throughout my time here at the MTC and especially this week! I know that God has a plan for each of us individually and He cares about each of our efforts to follow Him and wants to remind us that we are NEVER ALONE! Anyway, this week was great! Mi amiga Claire got here on Wednesday and I was able to find her on Thursday (there are a LOT of missionaries here these days) and it was so fun to be able to see her and give her a big hug!

This week we also started SYL or (speak your language) which means that my district and I are trying to speak in only Spanish to each other for the rest of our time here at the MTC! It has definitely been a challenge, but I have also already seen the benefits and God's hand supporting us as we try to be diligent! I am starting to love Spanish! It is difficult to try to learn a new language in such a short amount of time, but it is also super fun and a wonderful opportunity to feel the Lord lifting me when I feel inadequate or discouraged!

We also played four square this week as a district and it is quickly becoming our new favorite game! I love my district so much and our ability to have fun doing anything, and I am not excited to say goodbye to them next Monday. However, I am SO EXCITED to go to Spain and start meeting people and sharing my love for Jesus Christ! My faith in Him has grown so much since being here and I can't wait to start helping others receive His love and the wonderful gift of His atonement!

Miracle: This week I had a pretty miraculous witness that God is aware of me! I had a question in my heart that I really needed help with this week, but I had decided not to ask for help from anyone and then almost directly after I had dismissed the thought to ask for help, an Elder in my district came up to me with a direct answer to prayer that he could not have known about except if God told him! It was a wonderful witness that God knows me and loves me!

Spiritual Thought: This Sunday was so spiritual for me and part of that was because of something we call "Go and Do" at the MTC! It is an opportunity to study our scriptures and other resources for an hour and a half and learn how the Spirit speaks to us! This week I was studying the Book of Mormon with a personal question in mind and I received an answer through my study and a strong witness that the Book of Mormon is true!! I came across these verses that I loved in 2 Nephi 4:28-30,

28 Awake, my soul! No longer droop in sin. Rejoice, O my heart, and give place no more for the enemy of my soul.
29 Do not anger again because of mine enemies. Do not slacken my strength because of mine afflictions.
30 Rejoice, O my heart, and cry unto the Lord, and say: O Lord, I will praise thee forever; yea, my soul will rejoice in thee, my God, and the rock of my salvation.

I love these because something I've learned and I will continue to learn is that God gives us trials so we can learn to trust Him and He will be with us when we do! And we will have JOY!

Please feel free to write to me any time, I love hearing from you all! (ehardy@missionary.org)
