I Love Madrid!!!
Hola mis amigos!
This week was awesome! We started off last monday with our zone preparation day in Madrid, and we had a huge water balloon fight which was honestly so nice because it's still super hot here! We also went back to Madrid the next day for my residency appointment, and I was kind of nervous to handle it in Spanish, but I got to be with another Hermana during our appointment and it was great! We even got to share about our purpose here as missionaries with our worker, and he was super nice and respectful! Also it turns out we share birthdays so that was fun!
We also had the opportunity to do exchanges this week which was super cool! I got the chance to go to Carabanchel (in Madrid) with Hermana Robinson and it was an amazing experience to learn from her and meet some wonderful people! There were several moments that Hermana Robinson would turn to me to share a thought with someone and as I started to speak, the Spirit brought a scripture to my mind or a story to share that turned out being exactly what our friend needed, and I was so grateful for the reminder that the Spirit is with us as we take the steps of faith to start sharing or testifying, and we will be strengthened and provided with ways to bless people! There are definitely still times when I am dissapointed especially when I feel prompted to talk to someone and they yell no and run away (yes this has happened and it's a little bit funny but mostly sad) or someone chooses not to accept our message or people reject us or cancel on us or I even just say something wrong in Spanish, but I know that in these moments as I turn to Jesus Christ, I am reminded that I am never alone and I can ALWAYS find joy in Him and sharing about His love! I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be here serving my Savior, and I am consistently amazed by the miracles He provides when I put my trust in Him!
Miracles: If you had the chance to read my email last week, I mentioned a mom and daughter that I gave some smiley buttons to, but we were never able to get there number to get in touch with them. UNTIL, yesterday we were walking back from the metro and passed a lady with her husband and daughter who waved at us, we said hi but we did not recognize them at all. We kept walking and I just had a thought that they were the mom and daughter from a week ago! We decided we weren't going to miss this opportunity God gave us again so we ran back to catch up with them, and we got their number to set up a time to meet this week!! I was so happy to be reminded that God has a plan for all of His children, and even if we don't get it right the first time, He will give us more opportunities to act on His tender mercies!
Spiritual Thought:
This Sunday I had the opportunity to do a musical number in church with two wonderful Hermanas in our ward! I played the piano, Marta played the cello, and Mariacarmen sang and it was so fun! We did an arrangement (arranged by Marta) of "Creo en Cristo" and as I was playing this song and listening to the words I was reminded about the power of believing in Christ and His atonement for all of us! I know that as we put our trust in our Savior, He has the ability to strengthen us, heal us, and fill us with JOY even in our darkest moments! I invite you all this week to think of ways you can invite Christ into your life more because I promise He loves you and wants to bless you because I know He has blessed me!
I love you all so much! Please feel free to reach out, I love hearing from you!
